What support can I expect from After Surgery Home Care?
Our Nurses can assist with all your technical medical requirements. Some examples of support provided include medication management, diabetes education and support and comprehensive Wound Care. In addition, our Carers can provide assistance with daily activities, such as assisting with showering or bathing and getting dressed. It’s important to get help with these basic functions if necessary, as falls can cause additional injury to the body, hindering the healing process following surgery or treatment.
What should I do before my hospital procedure?
There are a few things you should consider doing around the house before you go into hospital. These are practical tasks that can make your life easier when you return home.
Clean and Tidy – It seems obvious, but making sure you home is extra clean for when you return will help prevent infections. Have a look around and pick up or move things that are likely to cause an obstruction or be a trip hazard.
Prepare toiletries etc – You probably won’t want to reach into your bathroom cabinet for toiletries, so prepare an easy to get to stash ready for when you get back.
Shop ahead – Think about easy but nutritious foods to have ready. Good snacks and bottled water would be a good idea.
Talk to your Doctor – Don’t wait until after, make sure you quiz your doctor about what to expect before your procedure. He’ll have good advice for planning for the best possible recovery. Request a referral from your GP for nursing care after the procedure.
